چکیده

There is an increasing need within the Navy Ma rine Corps for building distributed situation aware ap plications that are rapidly recon gurable and surviv able in the face of attacks and changing mission needs For the Navy s vision of Network Centric Warfare and Total Ship Computing to succeed there is an urgent need for a secure robust and survivable network in frastructure for disseminating mission critical informa tion in a timely manner It is widely believed that intelligent software agents provide the ability to build robust agile and e cient distributed applications We outline how SINS Secure Infrastructure for Networked Systems being developed at the Naval Research Lab oratory will provide commanders and war ghters the necessary middleware for constructing situation aware Command and Control C and combat applications We pay particular attention to the correctness sur vivability and e ciency of the underlying middleware architecture and develop a middleware de nition lan guage SOL Secure Operations Language that enables C and Combat applications to use this infrastructure in a seamless and scalable manner

Access control in ultra-large-scale systems using a data-centric middleware

The primary characteristic of an Ultra-Large-Scale (ULS) system is ultra-large size on any related dimension. A ULS system is generally considered as a system-of-systems with heterogeneous nodes and autonomous domains. As the size of a system-of-systems grows, and interoperability demand between sub-systems is increased, achieving more scalable and dynamic access control system becomes an im...

Weapon scheduling in naval combat systems for maximization of defense capabilities

Air defense is a crucial area for all naval combat systems. In this study, we consider a warship equipped with an air-defense weapon that targets incoming threats using surface-to-air missiles. We define the weapon scheduling problem as the optimal scheduling of a set of surface-to-air missiles of a warship to a set of attacking air threats. The optimal scheduling of the weapon results in an in...
